Kamali Chandler is a native New Yorker, an international real estate agent and the proud mother of two 20-something year olds. An avid fitness lover, who takes great care of her nutrition as well, it came as a complete shock when she was diagnosed with Stage 3C Ovarian Cancer in November 2019. A few months later, she learned that she was also BRCA2 positive, despite the fact that no one on either side of her family has ever had cancer. Having a genetic mutation meant that after she completed active chemotherapy treatment (a total of 18 intravenous and intraperitoneal infusions), she would be placed on maintenance therapy in the form of 4 daily pills of a Poly-ADP Ribose (“PARP”)Inhibitor. Only nine months into her journey, she is still trying to find her new normal, while still navigating the vast ocean of cancer, the prognosis and what it means to have a genetic mutation. As she continues her journey, she is dedicated to sharing her experience with as many people who will listen. Above all, she is dedicated to finding joy in even the most difficult of days.
