BRCAPositive and Stubborn

Hi my name is Kate I’m 43 years old I became a Previvor Feb 4 2019. My nana and mom both had breast cancer and when my mom was diagnosed she was tested and found out she was BRCA positive. My brother and myself had genetic testing and found out we were BRCA positive as well.

When I got tested I was scared and didn’t really understand what was happening. Then I found BRCAStrong on social media which is a 501c3. Tracy is amazing and helped me through my journey. We have done photo shoots, events and much more together.

BRCAStrong:

“Our mission is to support, educate, inspire and empower Previvors and Survivors, to eliminate the feeling of isolation and helping you feel whole again.”

May 2018 I had a hysterectomy. Went very easy and healed quickly.

Feb 4, 2019 I went an had prophylactic bilateral mastectomy straight to implant. I was very stubborn through this process and only wanted one surgery. Direct to implant was my only route. I only wanted big implants since I am a big girl but I realized now I should have gone smaller because 1 week after surgery I was hospitalized! I had an infection and I needed 20 hyperbaric treatments.

My journey has found my passion and have become a ambassador for BRCAStrong and help other women through there journey. I am always just a phone call away. If you need support let us know how we can make a difference as BRCAStrong made a difference in my life.

You are #UnBRCAble

Love Kate
