FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – February 26, 2021
BRCAStrong is excited to announce CENTER FOR RESTORATIVE BREAST SURGERY as a 2021 Bronze sponsor. CENTER FOR RESTORATIVE BREAST SURGERY sponsorship of BRCAStrong will supply 10 previvors, survivors and thrivers with much needed support as they battle breast cancer, ovarian cancer and/or hereditary cancer dispositions.
“Now more than ever, it is imperative for women to know if they are genetically predisposed to increased lifetime risk of breast or ovarian cancer,” said Dr. Trahan. “Ongoing advances in genetic testing continue to challenge dogmatic practices in women’s health by empowering more women for self-advocacy in medical decision making.
“Tracy’s advocacy for women facing genetic cancers or increased risk has been comprehensive, passionate, and inspiring. Amidst a sea of constantly evolving information and healthcare systems that can be intimidating to navigate, Tracy is not only a source of information, but she is also a problem solver that faces issues head on in service of other women. There is no greater force of nature than a focused, driven, and united group of women pulling in the same direction for a common cause.”
Founded by Tracy Milgram-Posner in 2015 after being told that she carries the BRCA2 mutation, BRCAStrong started out with a main focus on helping women with BRCA1 [link] and BRCA2 [link] genetic mutations. Over the years, BRCAStrong has evolved into a sorority of Previvors, Thrivers and Survivors that offers education, information, support and advocacy for women who are uninsured or under insured, by women who care. Support comes in all forms: from post-mastectomy garments and prosthetics, to lymphedema sleeves and other treatment necessities; and is provided at zero cost to recipients.
“Dr. Trahan is incredibly knowledgeable and recognizes the power of a group of organized women,” said Tracy. “His commitment to medical evolution and self-advocacy is something we unfortunately need in today’s medical landscape. We are pumped to have Dr. Trahan’s support of our group and are thrilled for the opportunity to share his work and innovative practices with women who need to know their options.”
BRCAStrong is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization aimed at supporting women who have been touched by breast and/or ovarian cancer. From financial support to routine monitoring or preventative surgery, BRCAStrong helps Previvors, Thrivers, and Survivors through the journey toward health, positive self-image and inspired living.
