FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – March 17, 2021
BRCAStrong is excited to announce Baptist Health’s Miami Cancer Institute as a 2021 Bronze sponsor. Baptist Health’s sponsorship of BRCAStrong will help supply 16 previvors, survivors and thrivers with much needed support as they battle breast cancer, ovarian cancer and/or hereditary cancer dispositions.
“I have been fortunate to work with Tracy for several years, sharing my expertise in gynecology oncology with patients from around the world,” said Deputy Chief of Gynecologic Oncology, Dr. John Diaz of Baptist Health’s Miami Cancer Institute. “I have also gained a wealth of knowledge from these brave women, and men, on the challenges they face while navigating this diagnosis. It has been my honor and privilege to partner with Tracy and BRCA Strong as we support, educate, inspire and empower patients.”
Founded by Tracy Milgram-Posner in 2015 after being told that she carries the BRCA2 mutation, BRCAStrong started out with a main focus on helping women with BRCA1 and BRCA2 genetic mutations. Over the years, BRCAStrong has evolved into a sisterhood of Previvors, Thrivers and Survivors that offers education, information, support and advocacy for women who are uninsured or under insured, by women who care. Support comes in all forms: from post-mastectomy garments and prosthetics, to lymphedema sleeves and other treatment necessities; and is provided at zero cost to recipients.
“Baptist Health has been such a great partner over the years, and continues to help us support women throughout Miami Dade County, as well as the rest of the country,” said Posner, who underwent a prophylactic hysterectomy at Baptist in 2015. “Dr. Diaz is just one of the many amazing Medical Professionals at Baptist Health who understand that quality of life is sometimes more important than the treatment itself! Our goals are 100% aligned and we look forward to many more years of helping women in need!”
BRCAStrong is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization aimed at supporting women who have been touched by breast and/or ovarian cancer. From financial support to routine monitoring or preventative surgery, BRCAStrong helps Previvors, Thrivers, and Survivors through the journey toward health, positive self-image and inspired living.
