FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – 03/02/2021
BRCAStrong is excited to announce PRMA Plastic Surgery | Center for Advanced Breast Reconstruction as a 2021 Gold sponsor. PRMA is a world-renowned breast center specializing in the latest breast reconstruction techniques, restoring breast sensation after mastectomy, and lymphedema surgery. PRMA’s sponsorship of BRCAStrong will help supply 30 previvors, survivors and thrivers with much needed support as they battle breast cancer, ovarian cancer and/or hereditary cancer dispositions.
“We are honored to collaborate with BRCA Strong to help support and educate patients on ALL their breast reconstruction and lymphedema surgery options,” says PRMA President, Dr. Minas Chrysopoulo. “This is an amazing organization making a huge impact in the BRCA and breast cancer community.”
Founded by Tracy Milgram-Posner in 2015 after being told that she carries the BRCA2 mutation, BRCAStrong started out with a main focus on helping women with BRCA1 and BRCA2 genetic mutations. Over the years, BRCAStrong has evolved into a sisterhood of Previvors, Thrivers and Survivors that offers education, information, support and advocacy for women who are uninsured or under insured, by women who care. Support comes in all forms: from post-mastectomy garments and prosthetics, to lymphedema sleeves and other treatment necessities; and is provided at zero cost to recipients.
“Until you’ve experienced cancer for yourself, there’s no way to empathize or understand the challenges that come along with a diagnosis of this magnitude – no matter your age or stage in life,” Tracy said. “It’s so important to find comfort and support in a group of women who share such a strong experiential bond. Having PRMA involved with our group in such a significant way is a powerful statement to the women who are fighting the toughest battle of their lives. We are so appreciative of Chrysopoulo and his team and hope to continue the relationship for many years!”
BRCAStrong is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization aimed at supporting women who have been touched by breast and/or ovarian cancer. From financial support to routine monitoring or preventative surgery, BRCAStrong helps Previvors, Thrivers, and Survivors through the journey toward health, positive self-image and inspired living.
