Cindy Papale-Hammontree joined the team at the Miami Breast Center in July, 2010 after retiring from the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center where she worked for 27 years. A Long
Island New York native, she moved to Miami in 1972. Cindy’s boundless passion for helping other breast cancer survivors became even more pronounced in the aftermath of her own diagnosis and treatment in July, of 2000 when she was diagnosed with a stage I, multi-focal, invasive breast cancer and underwent a bilateral mastectomy. After lecturing to high school and college students, Cindy decided to begin writing to help educate young women. She has appeared on the South Florida Today Show where she spoke about her first book with her friend and co-author Sabrina Hernandez Cano, “The Empty Cup Runneth Over”, and was on 101.5 LITE FM Radio. Cindy also has authored with Sabrina Miami Breast
Cancer Experts in 2014, and in 2018 Experts in Pink. Cindy is in the process of collaborating with Peabody Award-Winning producer Derek Britt on a feature film and even a Pilot series inspired by her breast cancer journey.
Cindy has recently been invited to sit on the Board to BRCAstrong, an organization that supports and educates survivors and previvors.
